REACH. Authorisation
The aim of the authorisation is to assure that the risks from substances of very high concern are properly controlled or that these substances are replaced by suitable alternative substances or technologies.
An application for authorisation must be submitted to the ECHA for each use of substances of very high concern.
Authorisation for specific uses can be granted if the manufacturer or importer is able to demonstrate that risks can be adequately controlled or if the socio-economic advantages of the specific use are predominant. Authorisation decisions may need to be amended or withdrawn as a result of a review which can be done at any time when there is a change of circumstances.
